Assignment 2: The major project report
Your final assignment, the Major Project Report , will contain a number of sections.
The first section, called the 'Introduction' should have the following content:
Introduction
1.1 Aim
1.2 Objectives
1.3 Scope
1.4 Authority
1.5 Context
1.6 Planning group membership
1.7 Related documents
Section 1.6 called 'planning group membership' is a list of the members of your planning group. Effective emergency management planning is based around the involvement of the stakeholders and key players. With their involvement you should be able to generate a sense of ownership in your planning group and their commitment to making it a success. Emergency management, including risk assessment is not something you do to a community or enterprise it is something you do with them.
Section 1.7 called 'related documents' should contain (or refer to an appendix at the back of your document which contains) a list of relevant documents you have referred to in producing your hazard analysis.
You should not begin to compile your final assignment, the Major Project Report, until your planning group has reviewed the project definition. Of course there are aspects of the Major Project report that can only be compiled after you have effectively completed that step of the risk assessment process.
So what are you going to do with this documentation? The next section describes how the aim, objectives and scope will help you to select a planning group. Once such a group has been assembled, you can give members a copy of your documentation and explain what you require from them. The planning group may wish to revise your aim, objectives and scope, and this is quite appropriate as it will give them a feeling of 'ownership' for the risk assessment.
