Project definition
The project definition consists of the following components:
- aim
- objectives
- scope
- authority
- context
- resource requirements
- timetable
The aim, objectives, scope, authority and context will be documented in the introduction to your emergency management plan (your first assignment). The resource requirements and timetable are to assist you in developing the plan and need not be documented in your assignment.
The aim, objectives and scope must be based on the risk treatment plan and associated planning objectives that were the outputs of your risk assessment in EMG101. Make sure you choose a focus for your emergency management planning that is achievable within your time constraints.
Activity 2.1
 |
You will recall that you completed a project definition for your risk assessment. Please re-read Topic 3 of your EMG101 Study Guide.
You will need to review the planning objectives developed at the end of your risk assessment assignment in order to develop realistic and appropriate objectives for your plan.

Assignment activity
Following a similar process as you used in your risk assessment project definition, write down the aim, objectives, scope, authority, context and resource requirements of your planning project. These will be the first drafts for inclusion in your first assignment, the Project Definition. I would suggest that you save them to a file on your computer in order that you can recall them for future review and amendment as necessary.

Timetable
Now that you have written down your aim, objectives, scope, authority, context and resources, you need to decide on the dates by which you should have completed the various parts of your planning process. To assist you, the following timetable is suggested.
You might like to print the following timetable, add the appropriate dates and pin it to your noticeboard or copy and paste it into your project plan or calendar.
