Where does emergency planning fit in emergency prevention and preparedness?

You will recall from Emergency Management Planning I (EMG101) that we considered an emergency prevention and preparedness model. The first part of this model was risk assessment, which you have already studied. You also will have successfully completed a risk assessment assignment for EMG101, and this will form the basis of your emergency planning study and work in this subject.

Let us revisit the emergency prevention and preparedness model.

2.

3.

5.

So you see that emergency planning does not occur in a vacuum, but should be part of an integrated emergency prevention and preparedness strategy. We will further develop the idea of the context of emergency planning in Topic 3.
