Overview

During this topic you will investigate the importance of emergency/disaster related legislation and identify and research the legislation that was in place prior to your chosen emergency/disaster event occurring.

Learning outcomes

After completing the work for this topic you should be able to:

• describe the emergency/disaster legislation that existed prior to your selected event happening;
• determine the effect, if any, that legislation had on emergency management arrangements during the pre-impact phase of your event;
• evaluate the importance and relevance of legislation in emergency/disaster management.
