Topic 7: Roles and responsibilities

Overview

This topic commences our examination of the Impact Phase of your selected emergency/disaster event. During this topic you will be asked to identify the major agencies within your community which would respond to a disaster/emergency event and examine their individual roles and responsibilities in relation to that response.

You will then be able to use this knowledge to identify the major agencies involved in the event you have chosen to study and describe their respective roles and responsibilities in responding to that event.

Learning outcomes

After completing the work for this topic, you should be able to:

• identify those agencies that could be required to respond to a disaster/emergency; and
• describe the roles and responsibilities of such agencies in responding to a disaster/emergency.
