Resource management

We have indicated that our learning philosophy incorporates the view that one learns best from doing. This is why, when we are unable to create events for each of you to manage, we ask you to report on the management of an actual event and to learn from your analysis.

In earlier Topics of this subject you have considered the roles and responsibilities of the various organisations and the importance of agreement and acceptance by all interested and affected people.

I want you to keep this in mind when you do your analysis of the external operational aid and resource management aspects of your event. To facilitate this analysis I want you to develop a set of questions which you will use as guide in your analysis. A good starting point for any set of questions is:

What
Who
When
Where
How
Why

Activity 12.9

I obviously expect that your set will be more comprehensive but I have given you a good start. Taking into consideration the previous sections and learning activities in this Topic, I would like you to compile a set of questions against which you can analyse the management of external operational aid that occurred or might have occurred if required, within your selected emergency/disaster event. Use the Activity Table document in the link below to compile and list those questions. Don’t forget to save that document for future reference. Once you have compiled your list, take a look at the list I have produced and see how they compare, but PLEASE, compile your list first.
